How are you going with your goals for 2018?

You might have started the year with great intentions and huge goals; it’s time to ditch them.

Wait! What?

Setting audacious goals that make other people’s jaws drop when you announce them may sound great, but when you commit yourself to kicking these sorts of goals, you could be setting yourself up for failure.

We have all done it before: committed to losing a large amount of weight, to going from sitting on the couch to running a marathon, to learning a big new skill in a ridiculously short amount of time. Setting the bar high isn’t always motivating, instead it can have the exact opposite effect as time goes by and you get no closer to achieving your goals.

So, what are the ‘secrets’ to achieving your goals in 2018?:

- Set realistic goals and keep going
- Set your own goals, don’t let other people set goals for you. You need to own your goals and achievements, this helps you to stay focused
- Know why achieving the goal is important to you, this will give you a sense of purpose
- Track your progress to stay motivated and, when you achieve your goals, don’t forget to celebrate your successes!
